Hello there,

My name is Fiorela Villalobos. I was born and raised in Costa Rica in a family of educators. As a young child, I loved playing school with my neighborhood friends and all my babydolls; while I spent my high school years leading a mathematics group study. My aunt "Teacher Ceci" and my sister (a special education teacher) are my role models and who inspired me to follow my childhood dreams and become a teacher.

In March of 2012, I relocated to Houston, TX, where I currently work and live. I am a proud graduate of the University of Houston, where I received a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Curriculum & Instruction in Early Childhood Education. I served as the campus "New Teacher Mentor Leader" during 2020-2021 school year to provide support and guidance to brand new teachers to the profession. In the Spring of 2019, I was selected by my administrators as the campus representative for the SHABE (Suburban Houston Association of Bilingual Educators) Bilingual Teacher of the Year Award Ceremony.
Being a early childhood educator is not only my job but my real passion. I advocate for play in the early childhood classroom because I firmly believe that young children learn when playing. For that reason, if you walk into my classroom, you will find students playing and having fun while learning academic content and developing their social and emotional skills.
